I haven't posted on here in such a long time. There is so much to share.
As some of you know, my dad's esophagus ruptured on April 29th. According to the doctors my dad should have died on April 29th, but God had different plans. After Dad had surgery to repair his esophagus, hed was in a coma for two weeks. When they removed his breathing tube and gave him a tracheotomy, my dad slowly began to come out of the coma.
Very slowly my dad made small improvements day after day. First he was moved to a rehabilitation hospital; then, he was moved to another facility until he was recovered enough to come home. On July 6th, my dad came home. :-)
Below you see all but one of my children (1 was sick.) with their signs to welcome Grampy home. "Praise the LORD" is all that can be said.
You can see the cut on my dad's head in the picture below - just days before he came home, he fell and hit his head. He had to get quite a few stitches, but he is fine now. We were so thankful that did not delay his release to come home.

My dad preached again for the first time since surgery on September 13th. This is truly amazing. A few weeks later, my parents left to visit some churches, and my dad resumed preaching. My dad continued to have issues with nausea. Come to find out, he needed to have his gall bladder removed. He had that removed on Tuesday while they were in Virginia. Then on Saturday he preached in Maryland. He preached three more times on Sunday, and he is feeling tremendously well now! His appetite has even returned.
During the time my dad was in the hospital, my husband was laid off from his job. It was a tough summer, but God has been good to provide for bills to be paid. My husband is now in training as a manager at the Shack (Radio Shack's new name). We will be very excited when the training is completed, etc... There is some light at the end of the tunnel now.
On a VERY good note, my son participated in the first National Bible Bee in September. He placed in the top 100 for his age category, so we will be going to the national competition in Washington DC in November. He is studying very diligently, and he has a good chance of placing in one of the top spots. If he wins first place, he will be able to get braces soon, and the rest will be in a scholarship for college! What really amazes me is that he learned all of these verses while my dad was in the hospital and my husband was unemployed. This has not been my doing at all. It is God's working in a disciplined boy's life!
Please pray for my son that God will use His Word to work in his life, and that perhaps he will win!
As far as couponing goes... I have some catching up to do. I need to do some clipping and filing, but I am headed back into the pile of coupons! lol I am not sure where my blog is headed, but we are starting to get back into some routine at our house, so hopefully you will see more posts between now and the end of the year.
Please rejoice with us over all the LORD has done in our family over the past few months.
